The Bridge at Kirkby Thore

A former Cumbrian restaurant is on the market for £425,000.

The Bridge, at Kirkby Thore, is for sale with specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.

Dating back to the early 1800s, The Bridge on the A66 is a substantial detached property that has undergone significant investment and renovation in recent years, the firm said.

Previously operating as a restaurant and bar, the property includes a dining area with mezzanine, commercial kitchen, parking, and three‑bedroom owners’ accommodation.

Currently vacant, The Bridge offers scope for redevelopment or repositioning under new ownership, Christie & Co added.

It said potential future uses included a roadside retail or farm shop-style operation, an EV charging hub with café, or a takeaway or drive‑through, subject to relevant planning consents, or alternatively reinstatement as a hospitality venue.

Marslie McGregor, senior business agent – pubs & restaurants at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, said: “The Bridge is a truly exciting opportunity for buyers seeking a prominent and flexible site along one of the region’s busiest routes.

“Its character, strong roadside position and scope for redevelopment mean it has fantastic potential, whether reimagined as a hospitality venue, a retail-led concept, or an innovative roadside offering.

“Opportunities with this level of visibility and versatility on the A66 are incredibly rare, so we expect strong interest from a broad range of operators.”
