
A man and a woman have been charged with multiple counts of theft in Carlisle.
Carlisle and Wigton Neighbourhood Policing Teams have led a proactive investigation to tackle retail crime that has resulted in the charges.
A woman from Carlisle was charged yesterday, Wednesday April 8, with 16 offences relating to incidents committed throughout Carlisle in the past two weeks.
Corrina Kirkpatrick, 35, of St Johns Court, Carlisle has been charged with eight counts of theft from a shop and eight counts of breaching her Criminal Behaviour Order.
The order was secured against Kirkpatrick last year on September 23.
Paul Elliott, 44, of Hawthorn Grove, Carlisle was also charged yesterday, Wednesday April 8, with three counts of theft from a shop.
Kirkpatrick has been remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at North Cumbria Magistrates Court on May 18.
Elliott is next to appear at North Cumbria Magistrates Court on the 18 May.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “This is one example of the proactive tactics being used to tackle retail crime and support retailers across the city.
“Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams will continue working closely with local businesses to identify and target those responsible.”
