A family whose daughter attends a football club for people living with Cerebral Palsy and acquired brain injury have helped raise over £4,500 from their Lake District challenge.
Cerebral Palsy United FC is an inclusive and family friendly football club, delivering social interaction and participation in team sport for all ages and abilities.
Sophia Benn, nine, attends the monthly sessions at Carlisle’s Harraby Community Campus.
Sophia, a pupil at Calthwaite Primary School, her mum Louise and their family have decided to give something back to the club and walked up the 388m Hallin Fell without physical aid to raise money for the charity.
The total stands at £4,530.
Louise, of Low Hesket, said: “We have seen the positive impact that CP United has had on our daughter and because of this, we want to give CP United the best chance to remain resilient.

“We feel extremely lucky that there is a local provision for our daughters which focuses primarily on their specific needs without having to travel long distances.
“This is a charity that we want to help for the sake of our daughter and the many other children and young adults across the country.”
The family were due to complete the challenge today, April 11, but climbed Hallin Fell a day early due to the weather forecast.
