Wath Brow Hornets produced one of the great all-time comebacks in National League/Conference history when they beat West Bowling 40-32 in St Helens.
They were trailing 32-6 five minutes into the second-half after the home side had scored a converted try to add to their half time lead.
But from that point the Hornets started to dominate, creating good field position and finishing well to cut the deficit and then overtake their hosts in the closing stages.
It was a remarkable effort from the West Cumbrians after they had only managed one try in the first half through youngster Kieran Eldon when they hadn’t been tough enough in defence.
That changed after the half-time talk from Ian Rooney and although conceding first the Hornets stormed back to win well with tries from Morgan McCourt, Karl Dixon, Devan Sharp, Conor Molyneaux, Nat Dougan and Sam Curwen.

There were six goals from Curwen who was named man of the match.

Kells were also winners in Division One, beating visitors Oldham St Annes 36-12 to maintain their strong start to the season.
After an opening day derby defeat to Egremont Rangers it’s been a succession of wins for the Whitehaven side and in the first 20 minutes against St Anne’s, coach Peter Smith thought it was the best they had played.
Things are certainly coming together for Kells, with a deeper look to their squad.
Latest debutant Ellis McKee was among the try scorers as they finished with seven touchdowns.

Ross Gainford converted three and Grant Gainford improved one other.
Man of the match Clarke Chambers, who scored two tries, unselfishly gave young McKee his first senior try when he might easily have gone in himself.

Also scoring were Grant Gainford (2), Harley Nelson and Sam Murtagh.

Egremont Rangers couldn’t make it a hat-trick of wins for the Cumbrian sides in the National League but they put up a very commendable effort at Division One leaders Dewsbury Celtic.
The Yorkshire side had won all their previous games but in a tight first half it was just 18-12 and Egremont very much in the contest with tries from Lachlan McDowell and Sam Williams, both converted by Joe Lewis.
Midway through the second half, though, Celtic stretched their lead to 34-12 and effectively won the game. But even so Egremont came back with tries from Connor Williams and Kaiden Block, with one converted by Lewis.

Still they weren’t finished and Dillon Scott almost got over five minutes from the end bit was adjudged to have grounded just short.
Then two minutes through the end man of the match Connor Williams broke and Rangers had two on one with the home full-back but the referee brought them back for a forward pass.

Plenty of positives to take from the 34-22 defeat, especially when Egremont only travelled with three subs, and Dillon Morris was unable to resume in the second half with a back problem.
