A Dragon Boat Regatta will take place in the Lake District this summer.
The second Windermere Dragon Boat Regatta will be held at YMCA Lakeside on Saturday July 11.
Jointly organised by Kendal Rotary Club and YMCA Lakeside, the event is run by Dragon Boat Events.
Last year, 10 teams competed with everyone having at least 3 races with the fastest crews going forward to the grand final.
The overall winner takes away a trophy.
The £45 entry fee covers the cost of the event with any surplus going towards the YMCA Lakeside bursary scheme to help disadvantaged youngsters from South Lakeland to access summer day camps, giving young people whose families might otherwise have difficulty finding the finance, a week of outdoor adventure during the summer holidays.
Some teams last year also raised sponsorship for their own charities. Around £6,000 was raised for a number of good causes.
David Oates, of Kendal Rotary Club, said: “This fantastic event was a very successful fundraiser in its first year last July.
“We hope to do even better this time but as well as supporting various charities the regatta is enormous fun.
“Crews consist of 15 people, 14 paddling and 1 drumming and this year we are accepting entries not only of full teams but also from small groups or even individuals – we will make up crews on the day.
“No expertise is needed just a great appetite for fun.”
Entries are needed by mid-May when the event go ahead has to be confirmed.
