A new head has been appointed to lead a Kendal funeral home.

Brian Litster has just been appointed at the head of Co-op Funeralcare Kendal on Bridge Street.

He has over 25 years of experience supporting families through challenging times.

Brian began his career with Co-op Funeralcare in 2000 in Barrow, starting as a casual driver bearer after being introduced to the sector by a local funeral director.

He said he was inspired to join the profession after seeing the compassion, dignity and support provided to a family during a funeral service.

During his early career, Brian developed a strong interest in embalming and completed a three-year training programme in embalming duties in 2007.

He progressed through the ranks and was appointed regional embalmer for Cumbria in 2009, a position he held for 15 years, providing specialist support to funeral homes across the region.

Brian said: “I feel honoured to be taking up the role of funeral director. Supporting families through one of the most difficult periods of their lives has always been a privilege throughout my career.

“Over the years that I have spent as a funeral director, I have had the honour to conduct military funerals and funerals for the families of dear friends. Each funeral is different; every family has their own needs, and I strive to support my families as much as I can.

“I’m now looking forward to getting to know the community in Kendal and continuing to provide compassionate, personal care to everyone we support.”
