Furness Coastguard Rescue Team was called out after reports of a porpoise’s body was called in.
The rescue team was called to Rampside yesterday, Sunday April 20, in the evening.
The body was in a state of decay, the team said and its location would be passed to the council for its removal.
Whales, dolphins and porpoises are classed as royal fish and need to be recorded. The details are sent to the Natural History Museum in London.
