A South Cumbrian music and arts venue has been awarded £396,000 so it can expand.
Full of Noises in Barrow has been given the cash by the Government’s Arts Everywhere Fund.
The experimental music organisation is based at Piel View House, a former park keepers lodge in Barrow Park.
Full of Noises was able to redevelop the ground floor of the venue in 2023 and open it for concerts, workshops, cinema screenings and events.
The upstairs was incomplete and used for storage but the cash means it can be turned into a sound studio, community workshop space, bedrooms for visiting artists and add extra bathroom facilities. It will also add a lift.
Glenn Boulter, Full of Noises artistic director, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding which will go towards the completion of the building as we always envisaged it.
“Since 2023 we have held more than 150 concerts and events going from strength to strength.
“Our redevelopment plans will see our upstairs completely redesigned adding much-needed facilities for the artists and community groups that visit.”
Full of Noises is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, meaning it receives regular funding due to the national importance of its work.
The Armitt Library and Museum in Ambleside was awarded £238,098 for improvements and upgrades to its building and facilities from the Museum Estate and Development Fund.
