
The bomb squad were called in after a member of the public reported suspected ordnance on a West Cumbrian beach.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team were called out on Monday to Harrington, near Workington.
The team said: “Our team quickly arrived on scene where colleagues from Cumbria police had established a safety cordon keeping the public clear for us.
“The item was located, photographed, and details passed to Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists for assessment.
“We returned on the next day’s tide along with EOD, where the item was confirmed not to be ordnance and not dangerous.”

- Do not touch it
- Move away from the area
- Make a note of the location. Ideally a grid reference or What3Words if you can
- Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard
