Cumbrian Paul McKeown made a dream debut for England Over-60s when they handsomely beat Scotland at Seaton Carew.
The Workington cricket club stalwart, who lives in the Penrith area, took two wickets after making an unbeaten 21 as England went on to win by 145 runs.
McKeown, 61, who is in his 50th year of playing cricket, was presented with his England cap at the game and says he will remember the occasion for the rest of his life.
He told Cumbria Crack: “It’s the things that dreams are made of and all the lads were great, making me feel very welcome.
“There was a lot of interest in the game because of Nigel Martyn, the former Premier League goalkeeper who was very humble about it all, a real top man.
“We batted first and after a strong start we had a bit of a middle order collapse before myself and another debutant Ian Woodall from Notts put on 50 to get us up to 220-9 and I ended up with 21 not out.

“Unfortunately the innings was marred by one of our lads going to hospital with a heart condition and he is still in the North Tees Hospital so we are all hoping he is ok. It just put the game into perspective though.
“We then bowled them out for 79 and I took 2-16 with one of my victims a stumping by Nigel Martyn.
“So I am delighted with it all and to be part of the England Lions was a special occasion and one I will remember for the rest of my life.”
The Lions play again on May 28 at Stafford but the team hasn’t been selected yet.
