
A Lake District walker was airlifted to hospital after falling.
The walker, who was undertaking the Coast to Coast, fell down Loft Beck, overlooking Ennerdale, on Thursday, May 14.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team were called out and initial details suggested that it was a significant fall and a potential head injury.
The Coastguard helicopter was requested. A helicopter was in the area training and diverted to help.
Its crew was first on the scene. Their initial assessment indicated that the injuries were less severe than first thought but the walk had a back injury.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team stretchered the walker to the helicopter and they were flown to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary.
