Aspatria won the Cumberland County League Cup (tier one) after a penalty shoot-out against Cleator Moor Celtic reserves.
Tier one involved the bottom four teams in the Premier Division and the top four in Division One, and both finalists are from the top flight although Celtic have been relegated.
It was a tightly contested final, finishing 2-2 and then being decided on the 12th penalty attempt – which hit the bar.
Celtic twice had the lead in the game but Aspatria battled back to level each time, with the second equaliser coming ten minutes from time.

Jamie Martin had put Celtic in front after 12 minutes but right on half-time Liam Parker levelled for Aspatria.
Tom Ward restored the Celtic lead after 58 minutes but Aspatria’s second from Andrew Trestianu on 80 minutes meant it was going to penalties.

Aspatria scored the first spot-kick and after that everyone found the net until Jacob Carton’s effort came back off the bar, leaving Aspatria 6-5 winners.

The Aspatria centre-back Mark Beaty was named man of the match.
Both semi-finals in the Whitehaven Cup were played on Saturday too, with Premier Division champions Unisun Athletic and Mirehouse winning through to the final next Saturday.

Unisun won 3-1 at Whitehaven Miners Social with goals from Hayden Makar, Ellis Watson and Kian Makar. Owen Woods scored for the Miners.

Mirehouse won 3-0 at the Division One champions Dearham United with goals from Nicky McAllister, Ryan Maguire and Kieran Maguire.
