A van has been seized on the first day of Cumbria police’s pre-Appleby Horse Fair policing operation.
Eden Police said today, Thursday May 21, marks the start of the policing operation and that a vehicle in the Cowan Bridge area has been seized.
Officers found the vehicle to have no insurance and towed it away.
Detective Superintendent Dan St Quintin, Gold Commander for Appleby Horse Fair, said: “We will not hesitate to take action where we find vehicles which are not insured or which are in a dangerous condition or not fit for purpose.
“Appleby Horse Fair is the constabulary’s largest annual policing operation and the public can expect officers to act where they see offences – including vehicle offences – without fear or favour and regardless of which community the individual belongs to.”
