A man is due to appear in court today in connection with the death of a grandmother in Cleator Moor.

Gillian Livingstone, 76, of Cleator Moor, died after she was struck by a motorbike while crossing Ennerdale Road with her grandchild on Tuesday at around 4.25pm.

The child suffered a serious head injury and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Kieran Yorke, 22, of Woodend, Egremont, will appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court today, charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Two other men, aged 22 and 23, have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal for information.

Officers are requesting that people in the area with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage review that footage and contact police if they have captured anything which would help the investigation.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 217 of 26 May or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
