A Maryport man has been jailed for burglary and vehicle interference.
Paul McCracken, 43, of Pecklewell Terrace, was sentenced to two years and eight months at Carlisle Crown Court today.
Cumbria police were called in the morning of April 26 this year about a burglary in the Maryport area.
Officers attended and viewed CCTV footage showing a man entering the property in the early hours while the owners were asleep upstairs.
McCracken stole a significant amount of high-value jewellery from the property, some of which was later recovered from his address.
He appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today and admitted the offence.
Cumbria police said: “Burglary is an invasive crime, particularly when it takes place while residents are at home.
Through swift police work and the use of CCTV, we were able to identify McCracken and recover a significant quantity of stolen property.”
