The Bampton community is set to host a major Flood Resilience Open Day, bringing together residents, hydrological experts, resilience and conservationists to discuss the future of the local landscape.
Following recent flood events that impacted the River Lowther and caused significant bank breaches behind the Bampton Memorial Hall, the community has partnered with Cumbria Connect and the Environment Agency to find long-term, sustainable solutions.
The event, on Saturday June 6, will be held at Bampton Memorial Hall from 11am to 3pm.
People will be able to see the results of a recent local flood resilience survey for the first time.
Experts from Cumbria Connect will be on hand to discuss river restoration, natural hydrology and opportunities to support healthier and more resilient river systems.
A county flooding resilience team expert will also be on hand to demonstrate some protective measures that can be adopted by residents.
