£4 million-worth of cocaine was seized from a vehicle by police – making it one of the most significant drug seizures in Cumbria.
The vehicle was stopped near Penrith on Wednesday, June 3, by officers from Westmorland & Furness’ Neighbourhood Support Team.
A man ran off but was apprehended by police.
Police then carried out a search of the vehicle he was travelling in and discovered 39 blocks of white powder.
Subsequent testing confirmed it was cocaine.
Courtney Gaston-Hird, 34, of Sandholme Lane, Lincoln, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a class A drug and is due to appear at Barrow Magistrates Court today, Friday June 5.
