Workington Town stage a Cumbrian derby on Sunday when they host Barrow Raiders.
The Raiders won impressively 40-0 at Craven Park in the opening game of the season but tomorrow’s return is expected to be much tighter.
Town have two new faces in the squad – Australian Tanna Featherstone played his first game at Dewsbury a fortnight ago so will be set to make his home debut.
The West Cumbrians have also announced the arrival of Logan Blacker, a full-back or half-back from Huddersfield Giants who has joined on a week-to-week basis.
He’s following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was a player and coach at Huddersfield and also spent a short time playing for Barrow.
Logan, who came through from the Giants Scholarship system, before that representing Siddal and Kings Cross Park RLFC amateur club in Halifax, has turned pro last year.
Huddersfield describe him as “an elusive full-back, with exceptional goal-kicking.”
Academy coach Steve Fox said: “Logan was initially a half-back, but we always felt that with his open running and freedom to play out of the back, we moved him to full-back and he’s had a real dig in the past few years at that position and he’s progressing nicely.”
Callum Phillips and Dominic Wear are both back in the squad after recovering from injury.
Barrow make just the one change to their squad from the Hunslet game a fortnight ago as Charlie Emslie replaces Trent Ruddy.
