In hound trailing circles all roads will lead to Edge’s Green on the Roman Road tomorrow.
The 2026 International meeting is being held there (NE49 9PP) on what is regarded as an open running course with particular good viewing over the last ten minutes.
It’s a seven-grade meeting which will feature Seniors, Senior Maidens, Open Pups, Puppy Maidens, Non HRA, Open Restricted and Veterans.
Of particular interest will be the Non Hound Racing Association when 15 Irish hounds will be taking part.
The meeting usually has a contingent from the Yorkshire Association but that has ceased to operate although a number of enthusiasts are hoping to revive it for next year.
Also new this year is the Billy Birkett Memorial Trophy for the Best Performance on the day. It’s named after a popular character in the sport who died last year.
The first International was held in 1965 at Mungrisedale and has a long tradition of producing thrilling racing and top-class prizes.
Action gets underway at 12 noon with the seniors and you can hear Andy Horn, chairman of the International Committee discussing the meeting below with Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh.
