People suffering from domestic abuse are reminded that help is available.

South Lakes Police said three of their cells were occupied by people arrested in connection with alleged domestic assaults overnight.

One man was arrested for allegedly strangling his partner and dragging her across a room while drunk.

Another man was arrested after his partner was assaulted and property destroyed and a third man was arrested after allegedly throwing items at his partner and then grabbing the victim by the throat.

South Lakes Police said: “All will be interviewed today as part of the investigation into these unconnected incidents. Victims will be revisited and further support provided.

“Domestic abuse can happen to anyone but it is never acceptable.”

Officers added advice and support is available.
