Barrow have confirmed that defender Joe Anderson has left the club following the mutual termination of his contract.
Stalybridge-born Anderson joined the Bluebirds in January and made 14 appearances in Barrow colours.
He spent the bulk of his youth career with Everton before signing for Sunderland where he made six starts, playing most of his football on loan with Shrewsbury Town (24).
He leaves Holker Street in order to take up an opportunity elsewhere, although no club has been named.
Anderson’s departure follows soon after the exit of midfielder Charlie McCann, who joined Cheltenham Town on a permanent transfer.
Coventry-born McCann, 24, had joined the Bluebirds last summer from Forest Green Rovers and scored 8 goals and assists in his 38 appearances in all competitions.
Adam Murray said: “It is unfortunate that we have lost Charlie but he stated early that he wanted to stay in the EFL.
“We tried to keep him here and he has been very professional throughout the process.
“Ultimately he had his eyes set elsewhere. It’s important that for whatever the reason, the squad is built around people that want success for our football club.
“We’ve got a good deal for Charlie and we wish him all the best for the future.”
