Plans are in place for 35 nights of roadworks to begin in a north Cumbrian village next month.
Cumberland Council will begin work on the B5299 through Dalston village, near Carlisle, from Monday July 20.
Contractors will be on site between 6pm and 1am each day and the road will remain until 3am for site clearance and material curing.
The programme will be delivered in two phases:
- Phase 1: Caldewhurst to Station Road – July 20 July until August 7
- Phase 2: The Square to Bridge End Inn – August 10 until September 4
A signed diversion route will be in place.
Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Vehicle movements within the closure area will be restricted, and while access may be arranged where possible, residents are warned they should expect some delays depending on site activity.
Drop-in session
The council will hold a drop-in session today, Monday June 29, from 6pm to 8pm at the Victory Hall in Dalston so people can ask questions and find out more about the scheme.
Cumberland Council said it had written to people in the local area to provide details of the drop-in session.
It added: “Unfortunately, due to technical issues with delivery, some households may not receive their letter in advance of the event. We apologise for any inconvenience and are keen to ensure all residents have the opportunity to find out more, speak to the team and ask any questions.”
