A dog has been rescued after falling from a Lake District cliff.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out to the incident at near Angel Tarn, Buck Crag, Hartsop, on Tuesday July 7.
The team said: “Two team members searched the extremely steep area below and around the crag.
“After about an hour of searching, they located the dog, named Louis, alive but possibly injured.
“The rescuers were able to get within 10m of the dog, but had to withdraw due to the dangerous ground conditions.
“A wider callout was launched as the only safe way of reaching Louis was a full twin rope rescue.”
As this was being organised, the team received a second and third call about injured and lost walkers.
The team said once those incidents were dealt with, a full team returned to the crag summit and found Louis had not moved.
A 100m twin rope system was set up to reach the dog, who was stuck wedged between two rocks.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said: “A team member was lowered from 60m above over steep, vertical and confused ground.
“Aside from a small cut, remarkably the dog was found to be uninjured.
“Our team member, armed with dog biscuits, managed to reassure Louis and after some careful manoeuvring, secured Louis and was lowered to two waiting team members at the bottom of the crag.
“He was then walked round and up to the summit to be reunited with his owners.
“Louis was a very lucky dog.”
