A TV chef has been announced as a guest for a South Cumbrian agricultural show.
Sunday Brunch co-presenter Simon Rimmer will join the line-up for the Cartmel Show at Cartmel Racecourse on Wednesday August 5.
Sarah Dickinson, Cartmel Show secretary, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Simon Rimmer to this year’s show alongside so many fantastic local producers, exhibitors and competitors.
“Cartmel Show is organised entirely by volunteers and continues to celebrate everything that’s great about our rural community.
“Whether you come for the farming, the food, the shopping or simply a great family day out, there’s something for everyone.”
As one of Cumbria’s longest-running agricultural shows, farming remains at the heart of the event, with livestock and equine entries expected across the cattle, sheep and horse sections.
Taking to the Food Theatre, Simon will cook live before joining Graham Kirkham, of Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese, and bakery Lovingly Artisan for demonstrations.
The Cumbrian Food Hall will include local favourites and new additions, including Grasmere Gingerbread, Zero Pantry and Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.
The Main Ring will feature heavy horse displays, carriage driving, vintage vehicles, a parade of livestock and horses, and Jonathan Marshall’s Black Horse & Falcon Free Spirits Live Experience.
Mr Marshall’s horses have appeared in national advertising campaigns, including Lloyds Bank adverts.
Traditional events will include Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling and terrier racing.
People can also watch Paddlers for Life showcase dragon boating, try archery and axe throwing, visit a mini zoo, meet members of Cartmel Young Farmers, or let children explore a tractor park.
The Village Industries Marquee will showcase displays of sewing, woodwork, art, crochet and crafts created by local competitors.
The Horticulture and Floral Art sections will also feature entries, and people can try willow weaving.
More than 100 trade stands will be at the event, including Rydale Clothing.
