Cumbria start their Bill Beaumont County Championship programme on Saturday at Kendal against Staffordshire.
The selectors initially named a squad of 40 for their training group and there have been four sessions ahead of the opening game.
There have been players from outside the county who have opted out this year, while others have had to be ignored as they play their club level at a higher level.
There have also been key injuries to the Penrith pair of Jay Rossi and Archie Rattray who have to pull out of the squad.
The Kendal club has been very supportive of the county group this season and there are 14 players from Mint Bridge in the squad of 27 which has been named ahead of Saturday.
Cumbria haven’t a particularly good record recently against Staffordshire, with defeats in their last two meetings, but all are hoping that home advantage will make a difference.
Kendal coach Dan Bowman is in charge of the county side again with assistance from James Gough and Gareth Gore.
The squad for Saturday is: Aaron Sullivan, Mark Watson (both Aspatria); Tom Graham (Carlisle); Ant Davies (Cockermouth); Glen Weightman (Keswick); Barney Coxon, Greg Wrathall, Alex Ryder, Devin Coyle, Luke Atkinson, Leo Mercer, Joe Anderson, Alistair Thompson, Matt Houghton, Aaron Stephens, Dan Shorrock, Reece Tomlinson, Glen Cheshire, Ben Dixon (all Kendal); Alfie Bradshaw, Charlie Lomas (both Kirkby Lonsdale); Tom McCullough (Northern); Sam Wilson, Rob Coward, Andy Rogers (all Penrith); Ollie Rose, Tom Mooney (both Upper Eden).
