Simon Fell: Only Theresa May can secure defence jobs in Barrow and Furness

[S]imon Fell, Theresa May’s Conservative candidate for Barrow & Furness, warns that a vote for Jeremy Corbyn and Labour will threaten defence jobs in Barrow and Furness.

It has come to light that Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has backed plans to allow taxpayers to be able to stop their cash going towards the soldiers, sailors and the air force who protect our country.  This is in addition to his demands to axe Trident and previous calls to cut defence funding, which were backed by Jeremy Corbyn.

Responding to Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell’s comments on slashing military spending, Conservative candidate Simon Fell, for Barrow and Furness, said:

“The defence industry is critical to our local economy with businesses such as BAE bringing jobs and security for local families. The yard dominates Barrow and its economy. This pair of student politicians cannot be allowed to ruin it as they have the Labour Party.

“It is clear that Jeremy Corbyn’s plans to hit the defence industry pose a grave threat to these jobs – especially as he would be propped up by the SNP and the Lib Dems.  So your vote here really counts.  Only a vote for me and Theresa May can secure defence jobs in Barrow and Furness.”
