Police are investigating after a spate of graffiti in a South Cumbrian village.
South Lakes Police said officers were receiving increasing reports that more tagging had been appearing in Burneside, near Kendal.
They said local schools had already been contacted to see if anyone recognised the style or specific markings.
South Lakes Police said: “The real cost of anti-social behaviour is wasted budgets – graffiti, bin fires and general vandalism costs councils and parish councils thousands of pounds to clear up and repair.
“Every penny spent fixing damage is more money taken away from exciting projects or improvements, like upgrading local parks and community spaces.
“Tagging and vandalism, quickly makes a beautiful neighbourhood look dreadful and neglected.
“We want to keep our neighbourhoods safe, clean and welcoming for everyone.
“Parents please talk to your children about the impact of vandalism and all other aspects of anti-social behaviour.”
Anyone with information is urged to call 101.
