police RTC5b[P]olice were called to a report of a road traffic collision on the A595 at its junction with Gosforth and Seascale (B5344) at around 11.20am today (Wednesday, 3 May 2017).

The collision was between a motorcycle and what is believed to be a silver vehicle, possibly similar to a Peugeot 206. However, that vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Police believe the silver vehicle will have rear-end damage and would appeal to the driver to come forward immediately. It was last seen heading into Gosforth or it could have headed south on the A595.

We are appealing for any information as to the identity of the silver vehicle or its driver. If anyone sees a silver vehicle with rear end damage or knows any information about this collision then they should contact police on 101 and quote incident number 73 of today.

The 55-year-old male motorcyclist suffered an injured hip in the collision but his injuries are not life-threatening. He is now in hospital in a stable condition.

The road was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the collision but has now fully reopened.
