[A] cyclist has been flown to hospital after falling from his bike on Honister Pass.
At 10:05am on Sunday 7 May the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to an injured cyclist taking part in the Fred Whitton Challenge.
A spokesman for GNAAS said: “The cyclist, aged in his 40s suffered severe leg injuries and minor head and facial injuries.
“The GNAAS aircraft landed at the Slate Mine before being transported to the patient by event medics.
“The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team assessed and treated the man, before he was flown to hospital in Preston.”
