Light the Lakes Penrith team on Great Mell Fell

[I]n the early hours of Saturday morning, a team of 14 from the Penrith area took part in Light the Lakes 2017.

The team walked to the top of Great Mell Fell to light up its peak at 3am.

Light The Lakes is an annual event in The Lake District to commemorate those fallen officers who have contributed so much to making our communities better.

All 214 Wainwrights are assigned a team and just before sunrise each peak is lit with bright lights.

The event has helped to raise the profile of and funding for Care Of Police Survivors (COPS), a charity which provides ongoing support to the families of fallen officers.

The team who lit up the top of Great Mell Fell have so far raised £210 for COPS.

If you would like to support the charity by making a donation, please follow the link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/great-mell-fell-2017

This year’s event is sponsored by Wainwright’s Beer & Brathay Hall.
