[T]hree men have now been arrested after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in an alleged axe attack.
Police were called at around 8pm yesterday (22nd June) to an incident that occurred on Broughton Road, Dalton.
A 46-year-old man from Dalton sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to Furness General Hospital. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, and has been arrested today on suspicion of S18 Wounding.
A 42-year-old man from Dalton was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder; he sustained injuries during the incident and is currently at Furness General Hospital.
A third man, a 27-year-old from Dalton, has now also been arrested on suspicion of GBH in connection with incident. He has been released under investigation.
An axe has been seized by police.
DI Helen Curme said: “We are working hard to establish what exactly has happened. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time, and I would like to reassure the public that it is not being treated as terrorism related.
“I would ask that anyone with information that could help the investigation should please get in touch and let us know.”
UPDATE at 12:33pm Friday 23 June: “Both men at Furness General Hospital are now in stable conditions, not believed to be life threatening.”
