[T]he New Beacon Portal building gets its summer programme underway this Saturday, with an intimate evening of acoustic song and storytelling with Cumbrian duo Chapin-Wickwar.
Chapin-Wickwar will be celebrating the recent launch of their second album, ‘No Heaven…’ which is already achieving critical acclaim.
The duo has already been touring their new material around the UK, and this homecoming performance will be an atmospheric and stirring experience in the new harbour side venue on West Strand, Whitehaven.
“This music doesn’t come from the head, it comes from the heart, and that’s where ‘No Heaven…’ from Chapin-Wickwar hits you, in the depths of your humanity, that place where your soul resides”
(FolkWords – ‘Album of the Month’, June 2017).
“Worthy of a place in any collection of modern folk music. Stories of everyday people dealing with the slings and arrows of life… What also makes it superb listening is the undeniable fact that Chapin-Wickwar have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear”
(Fatea-Records)
The evening includes support from Northern duo ‘Meantime’, treating concert-goers to guitar, fiddle and vocal harmonies.
The Beacon Portal offers two rooms that accommodate up to 35 people each, overlooking the picturesque Whitehaven Harbour alongside kitchen and restroom facilities.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and The Beacon Museum offers parking adjacent to the building.
Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets are priced at £10 and are available from The Beacon Museum on 01946 592302. There will also be a bar available during the evening.
