[T]he cyclist injured in a fail-to-stop collision in Ulverston on Wednesday afternoon (26 July) remains in hospital in a critical condition today (28 July).
Officers are continuing their efforts to trace the driver involved in the fail-to-stop collision.
Superintendent Rob O’Connor said: “Whilst I am sure the majority of people fully understand why we cannot divulge the details of the tactics involved – to do so would risk compromising the on-going work being carried out – I can assure the public that every efforts is being made to trace the driver involved in this collision and I would ask for patience whilst we continue that work.
“The investigation into the incident continues today and I am confident that, if the driver does not have the good sense to come forward himself, we will locate and arrest him.”
The collision occurred in the area of the A5087 at the junction of Park Road and Priory Road.
The collision involved a black VW Polo and a male cyclist.
The male cyclist, a 24-year-old man from the Ulverston area, was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital via air ambulance.
