[A] below par Preston North End Ladies team still put on a resilient performance as they tried to contain a free flowing Penrith display.
Penrith were initially frustrated by Preston’s disciplined defensive display. Penrith eventually broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. This seemed to help settle the team and Penrith raced to a 6-0 halftime lead.
Penrith scored further goals in the 2nd half despite a dogged defensive display from Preston. The game eventually ended in a 9-0 win for Penrith with Andrea Lorenzi scoring the final goal in what was her final appearance for Penrith before she heads home to Italy.
Other scorers were Nat Broad (5), Livvy Johnston, Charlotte Smith and Heather Fawkes.
Nat Broad’s 5th goal of the day was her 100th for the club in what was her 97th appearance.
Next Sunday Penrith AFC Ladies face a daunting trip to Norton Ladies in the SSE FA Womens Cup. Norton were the team that comfortably knocked Penrith out of the FA Cup last season.
