Carlisle and Penrith Area hosted a four-card meeting on Tuesday at Moss Peteral with 33 hounds involved.
Seven of those were entered in the opening Seniors race and once on their way Willie and Craig Mark and Billy Lindsay’s in-form Sportsman was away at the front with Sarah and Baz Harper and the late Hartley Robinson’s Delta Fortune for company.
The hounds are seen after roughly four minutes racing where Neil and Gillian Brown and Joel and Derrick Bulman’s Hey Mac was leading from Sportsman and Delta Fortune but there was only 20 yards between all seven of them.
Going out of sight after roughly 10 minutes racing Sportsman was back at the front and leading a group of six.
When seen again after 20 minutes Sportsman and Malcolm Holmes’ Senor had a slight advantage over Anna and Kerry Lindsay and Emmie McAulay’s Inspect
However, just before they went out of sight they had a scale and six bunched up together.
Dropping for the finish Sportsman and Senor had a few lengths lead but once over the wall Inspect finished well to claim the win.
Sportsman was second and Senor took third followed by George McGimpsey and Gillian and Millie Telford’s Millie’s Lass; Delta Fortune and Gillian Brown and Mickey O’Brien’s Peggy Sue.

The Pups had eight for their race with Anna and Kerry Lindsay and Janie McAulay’s Zinger the early leader from Duncan, Amy, Oliver, Liam, Eleanor Chisholm, Harry Turner, and Brian Graham’s Let Me Try Again.
Back into view three minutes into the race Let Me Try Again and Zinger were still leading with Nicola McMaster and Barbra Telford’s Rodney Ranger in pursuit.
Just before they went out of sight they also had a scale and onto the finish three had broken away – Let Me Try Again, Zinger and George McGimpsey, Gillian, Millie and Charlie Telford’s Charlie’s Dream
As they neared the line it was Zinger who finished best to win and complete a double on the night for the Lindsay family (Team Pink) over Let Me Try Again and Charlie’s Dream,
Rodney Ranger finished fourth ahead of the Christopher Henderson’s pair of Nash On and Bash On.
The Open Maidens had the largest entry on the night with a line-up of 14 and once on their way they were pretty difficult to make out due to the sun.
Neil and Gillian Brown and Joel and Derrick Bulman’s Dundee seemed to leading Malcolm Holmes’ Senorita and they were in front of a long line of hounds.
Going through Dundee was still leading but this time from Andy and Alan Horn and Simon Walker’s Overwater Louie and what was thought to be Sarah White and Elsie Horn’s Flightline.

Dropping for the finish three had gone clear – Malcolm Holmes’ Sir Robert, Flightline and Senorita.
Jumping the wall onto the finish Flightline finished well to claim the win over Senorita and Sir Robert.
Marti and Amy Borthwick’s Castle Callant finished fourth with George Burgon and Carole Tunstall’s Mr Mally an early leader Dundee claiming the final two tickets.
The final race of the night was the Open Restricted with a slip of four.
Once on their way Lee, Hayley, Joey and George Wall, Sandra Mordue and Ted Strorrow’s Denton Adonis was away at the front with Carole Tunstall and George Burgon’s Overwater Hunter.
Going through Denton Adonis had a 50-yard advantage on Overwater Hunter and Sandra Mordue, Ted Strorrow and Lee Wall’s Denton Shamrock.
Jumping the wall onto the finish Denton Adonis pulled away to claim the win over Overwater Hunter and Denton Shamrock but they were the only finishers.
