The walkers meet colleagues at Morecambe hovercraft station.

[O]n Wednesday 20 September 2017, a 12 strong multi-agency team of walkers and their support team of four, paused in Morecambe overnight; en-route from Carlisle to Blackpool.

The team, comprising members from the Ambulance, Police, Fire and Prison services, set out from Carlisle on Saturday 16 September 2017 and, after walking approximately 140 miles, are due to arrive at their destination in Blackpool on Saturday 23 September 2017. Two members of the team are also RNLI Blackpool volunteer lifeboat crew members.

The purpose of the walk is to raise funding and awareness of ‘Our Blue Light’ (a programme initiative set up by the MIND charity) which aims to provide mental health support to members of the emergency services effected by their experiences whilst performing their duties serving the public.

More information is available on the Charity’s website: https://www.mind.org.uk/news-campaigns/campaigns/bluelight/.
