The Beacon Museum

[T]HE Beacon Museum is extending its opening hours for one day per week.

The Whitehaven harbourside attraction will be open until 8pm every Thursday throughout October in a bid to attract different local audiences to the venue.

Alan Irwin, The Beacon’s Development Manager, said: “We want to allow people to use the museum in a different way, and the museum at night is a more atmospheric experience.”

The first day of the late opening hours on Thursday, October 5 will see Graeme Mitchell, from Tractor Shed Brewing in Seaton, give a talk on the brewing process and give visitors the chance to taste some beers (5pm to 8pm).

And earlier in the day, valuations expert Stuart Noon will offer visitors the opportunity to learn more about their precious heirlooms (1pm to 3pm).

Both events are included in general admission, and Copeland Pass holders can enter the core museum (excluding the feature Gladiators exhibition) for free during this extended time.

For more information, telephone 01946 592302 or visit www.thebeacon-whitehaven.co.uk.
