Alan Farish

[A] NORTH Cumbria man has been handed a six-year jail term for child sex incitement crimes.

Alan Farish, 60, was said to have repeatedly asked several different girls aged under 16 to engage in “wholly inappropriate” sexual activity.

Carlisle Crown Court heard Farish even offered one of the females £40 “to go to bed with him and sleep with him”.

No actual sexual activity ever took place. But Judge Peter Hughes QC was told of the “profound effect” Farish’s offending had on those involved.

Farish, of St Martin’s Drive, Brampton, was sent to prison today (MON). He had previously pleaded guilty to one charge of indecency with a child under 16, and admitted six counts of causing or inciting a child aged under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Farish was told he must sign the sex offenders’ register for life, and abide by the strict terms of a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely. He was also informed he will be barred from ever working with children and vulnerable adults.
