[A] TEENAGER who misbehaved during community service handed down for violence has been ordered to complete more hours.
Michael Robert Peter Jenkins, 18, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court earlier this year. Jenkins admitted both assaulting a man in Whitehaven last July, and an affray charge after violence flared outside a Workington social club in November.
A custodial sentence was suspended by a judge, and Jenkins was ordered to complete 250 hours’ unpaid work.
But the teen was brought back to court today (FRI) having flouted the order. He was said to have failed to be available for a home visit, and later thrown stones at another person during a community service session.
Jenkins was said to have made “some progress” since being handed his punishment – but also showed signs of “immaturity”.
Judge Peter Davies ordered him to complete 20 additional unpaid work hours for the breach. “It is time to grown up. Do you understand? said Judge Davies.
“Yes, it is,” conceded Jenkins, of Harrington Road, Workington.
