Mr Rylands with Year 7

[S]tudents at Central Academy are set to benefit from the introduction of an innovative maths programme called Times Table Rockstars.

Knowing times tables is important in providing the basic building blocks for problem solving in maths as children progress through school. Times Table Rockstars is a fun interactive way of challenging students to learn their times tables and reward them for success.

Maths Teacher Jack Rylands said: “Year 7 students at Central Academy are improving their times table knowledge through Times Table Rockstars. A programme that has helped hundreds of thousands of pupils improve their recall speed for times table facts in over 4500 schools worldwide!

Either battling against the clock to the sounds of a 3 minute rock song in the classroom or answering questions online with your custom made Rockstar – students are developing their times table confidence. A confidence which is integral to accessing a maths curriculum founded on secure multiplication and division facts.

We have had a brilliant start to the programme with Year 7 students achieving superb scores and times for the first of their weekly challenges!”

Times Table Rock Stars much like their musical counterparts need practice to be the best they can be. Operated over 20 weeks, students will become more successful in maths.
