[P]olice are appealing for witnesses following an assault. The assault took place at 12:30pm, on Saturday, 16th December 2017, at the Victoria Viaduct car park, Carlisle.
The victim, a 40-year-old man from the Carlisle area, parked his white Volkswagen van in the car park, and walked to the Thai food takeaway van to order some food.
A grey Mercedes van containing two men entered the car park. The men approached the victim, and assaulted him outside the takeaway van.
The victim’s van was also damaged during the incident, with the windows of the vehicle being smashed. The two men then left the scene in the grey Mercedes van.
35-year-old Thomas Maughan, and 29-year-old John Maughan, both of Hadrians Way, Carlisle, were later arrested and charged with affray and driving offences. They have both been remanded in custody.
