[T]he musical director for the Strictly Come Dancing live tours is among professionals due to come to Cumbria to work with students at the University of Cumbria’s Institute of the Arts.
Pianist Allan Rogers will follow in the footsteps of actor Layton Williams, who plays Stephen in the Jack Whitehall comedy Bad Education and Billy Elliot in the West End, who recently spent time with performing arts students at the university’s Brampton Road campus.
A series of professionals are coming to Cumbria in 2018 to share their expertise and insight into the world of entertainment.
Professor Graeme Danby, the university’s professor in practice specialising in performance arts, is aiming to help students create networks with working professionals and demonstrate the range of careers available within the arts.
“This is the quality that we’re bringing to our campus,” Prof Danby said. “It is important to have that level for our students.”
Others due to come to Cumbria include Saturday Night Live choreographer Michele Thorne and Shelby Williams credited with musical theatre productions including Wind in the Willows and Bend It Like Beckham.
The campus will also welcome the chief executive of the Arts Council, Darren Henley next month.
