[C]umbria Constabulary has today (January 8th) launched its regular recruitment campaign for new police constables – could this be the year you join our police family?

The new recruits will experience the diverse and challenging role of a PC, playing a key role in serving the local community. The job isn’t an easy one, but is one that is incredibly rewarding, and offers many exciting opportunities to assist us in tackling crime and antisocial behaviour.

Chief Inspector Matt Pearman said: “The role of a police constable is an incredibly important one, and one that really matters to local communities and neighbourhood policing.

“We are hoping to recruit new police constables that are dedicated and willing to work hard to serve the communities of Cumbria. These individuals need to be highly motivated, intelligent and committed to keeping the county safe.

“Policing is a challenging profession but extremely rewarding and your application could be the first step on a long and successful career path with Cumbria Constabulary.”

The application process was streamlined last year so that some of the more time-consuming elements were been removed or greatly reduced, making applying easier than before.

Cumbria Constabulary have also today opened a webchat to enable prospective applicants to ask questions and receive more information about the process and being a police constable. Go to https://www.cumbria.police.uk/Recruitment/Jobs/Vacancies/Police-Officer-Recruitment.aspx for more information. You can also see more of what the role entails by visiting us on Facebook (Cumbria Police) and Twitter (@Cumbriapolice).

Recruitment evenings are to be held to be held in Barrow, Workington and Carlisle next week:

  • Monday 15th January, Workington Police Station, 6.30pm
  • Tuesday 16th January, Barrow Police Station, 6.30pm
  • Wednesday 17th January, Durranhill Police Station, 6.30pm

Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, said: “Cumbria Constabulary is a great force working hard to protect the people of Cumbria, and I would like to encourage applications for what is a fantastic career with many challenges and opportunities.

“It also offers rewarding work in a dynamic and fast paced environment where you have to show real leadership, and most importantly make a difference to your local community.

“There is no such thing as the ideal background, we just need good people, why not go along to one of the open evenings, it is a great way to get some insight into what this worthwhile career has to offer.”
