An annual fund to help youth sports teams buy new kits has been launched by a Cumbrian firm.

C&D Rural has ringfenced £2,500 for its Community Sports Fund to benefit teams across the county.

The family-run company offers land and estate agency, valuation and surveying services across Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.

Louisa Thomson, managing director, said: “C&D Rural is passionate about supporting local initiatives as these are the towns and villages we all live and work in.

“Children’s sport is such an important part of community life, and this is why we think it’s key to provide as much support as possible.

“We want to encourage as many young people as possible in our local areas to take part in some form of physical activity and, if we can make things a bit easier for sports clubs in Cumbria and the children who use them, then that’s a big step in the right direction.

“Running a grassroots sports team can be expensive with playing kits often coming at a high cost, and we are delighted to be able to provide financial help to make sure teams look the part when they line up against their opponents.”

The fund is open to any sports team at under-16 age level or under, and all sports are eligible for the funding.

Each team can apply for up to £500.

Application forms can be requested by emailing [email protected]
