Cameron and Jasper celebrating the good news

[T]wo talented students from St Benedict’s Catholic High School have this week found out they have been accepted into Oxford University.

Jasper Lithgow and Cameron Bowskill are both in their final year at Sixth Form and due to sit their A-Levels in the summer. To secure their places at Oxford, they will need to gain either A* or A Grades in all of their examinations.

Mrs Kar, Director of Learning at the Sixth Form said: “It is fantastic that our students have been offered places at such a prestigious university. It is down to their hard work and resilience that they have been successful.”

“It is also a testament to the support and excellent guidance that the students receive at the Sixth Form which ensures that their aspirations are set very high. We are very proud of our students and wish them all the best for their bright futures.”

Both students had interviews at the end of last year, and have been waiting patiently to find out if they had been successful.

Jasper has been accepted in Worcester College to study Biochemistry for four years as part of an Integrated Master’s Degree. He commented:

“I was nervous, and didn’t think I had got in. I feel like this is the pinnacle of my life and I’m very excited for the future.”

Cameron, who has been accepted to study Physics at Oriel College was nervous, but quietly confident. He said:

“I am really pleased that all of my hard work has paid off, and I’m looking forward to my new chapter at Oxford University.” He will also be studying for a total of four years completing an Integrated Master’s Degree.

Both students will receive their A-Level results in August after sitting their examinations in the summer term.

Mr Smith, Headteacher at St Benedict’s comments: “We are privileged to have students such as this as part of our school community. This demonstrates that our students can compete with the best. I am delighted for Jasper and Cameron. This success is testament to not only their hard work and academic success, but to their fully rounded characters and their impressive personalities.”
