[A]t 8:58am today, Wednesday 24 January two fire engines from Barrow an Walney were called to reports that a number of sheep were stuck in the Walney Channel.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews quickly arrived at the scene, along with the RSPCA and a local farmer and found that a number of sheep had become trapped in the mud.
“Sadly, a number of sheep had already died when the crew arrived at the scene, however the team were able to save three sheep.”
