[I]n North Yorkshire, the A66 is closed in both directions between the A67 at Bowes and the A1(M) at Scotch Corner due to an overturned HGV and large diesel spillage.

The incident has happened at Ravensworth.

Eastbound traffic is advised to follow the Solid square symbol (for the A1M south) and Solid Diamond (for A1M north).

Exit the A66 eastbound at Bowes and follow the A67 until Barnard Castle. Continue on the A67 until the A67/B6280 roundabout. At this point traffic will be segregated north or southbound depending on the journey. Northbound traffic will be directed left onto the B6280 following signs for A1M north. Southbound traffic will be directed right following signs for A1M south and continue along the A67 to Blackwell to re-join the A66 and then A66M to Scotch Corner.

Westbound traffic should consider using the A1M and A69 as an alternative route.

Road users are advised to allow extra time to complete their journey plans if travelling in this direction or consider using other trans-pennine routes as the road is expected to remain closed throughout the day.

The event is expected to clear between 21:00 and 21:15 on 27 January 2018.
