[T]WO brothers will stand trial after denying the alleged robbery and wounding of a Carlisle businessman at a fast food outlet.
Ergun Kesgin, 38, and 29-year-old sibling Mesut Kesgin appeared at the city’s crown court today (MON).
During a short hearing in front of Judge Barbara Forrester, the brothers each denied the alleged wounding of Mahmut Keser with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. They each also pleaded not guilty to robbing Mr Keser of an unspecified amount of cash.
Both charges arise out of an incident at the Charcoal Grill, Shaddongate, in Carlisle, on January 15.
It is said the alleged victim suffered stab wounds to the head, mouth, arm and abdomen, and was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
Ergun Kesgin and Mesut Kesgin, both of Seatoller Close, Carlisle, are due to go on trial before a jury at the crown court on June 18. It is estimated the hearing will last three days.
In the meantime, the brothers were remanded in custody by Judge Forrester.
