[C]arus Green Golf Club has announced that it will be hosting The Trilby Tour Regional Championship for the second year running. The Trilby Tour Championship of Cumbria takes place on Thursday 21st June, with three regional qualifying opens on Saturday 21 April, Saturday 19 May and Sunday 3 June, all at the Burneside-based club. The International Grand Final will once again take place at Hull Golf Club on Thursday 30th August.

Last year’s event at Carus Green was hailed ‘a tremendous success’ and welcomed thousands of spectators across the North-West who turned up to watch 130 players battle it out in the industry’s most prestigious amateur golf tournament. Famous faces such as former ‘Westlife’ boyband member, Brian McFadden, and Geordie Shore’s, Gaz Beadle, added to the excitement of the tournament, which was filmed by Sky Sports and saw 53-year-old Sheffield-based, Paul Naylor, lift the trophy for Cumbria on the day. The Grand Final was won by 27-year-old Ben Rozenbroek.

Now in its eleventh year, golfers have hailed the Trilby Tour as the closest experience to a professional tournament, playing under the pressures of an international televised event, accompanied by their own caddies, with die-hard fans returning year after year gripped by its fierce ‘winner takes all’ competitive format. With annual viewership figures of more than 3.5 million, the Trilby Tour is officially the largest amateur golf television series in Europe.

“Following the incredible success of last year’s event, we are delighted to once again be hosting the Cumbrian regional championship of this year’s Trilby Tour,” says Carus Green’s owner, Graham Curtin. “Carus is a fresh, modern and ambitious club, with exceptional facilities; the triumph of last year’s event demonstrated our standing as the North of England’s premier golfing destination. That the Trilby Tour organisers have deemed us worthy of hosting this prestigious event once again, is a fantastic compliment and we are very much looking forward to it.”
