Cumbria took on West Yorkshire in the latest round of County Championship Pool action, but found it tough going.
The Cumbrian A and B teams, as well as the seniors and ladies, were all beaten by their West Yorkshire counterparts.
The A team suffered a 28-16 reversal despite gritty battle in tough conditions.
They had made a slow start, but showed real heart and fought for every frame.
Man of the Match was Dan Long (3/4) with a rock‑solid performance.
It was fine margins, but plenty of positives and a big shout-out to Mike Owen for stepping up as captain.
Missing a few regulars, the team spirit was top‑drawer in the B team when they lost 30-14.
Man of the Match was Craig Ungless with a four out of four flawless performance.
Huge thanks were extended to Casey Martin, John Martin and Tom Wren Snr for helping the B team field a full side.
Cumbria Seniors lost 29-15 in another tough test in which plenty of fight was shown.
Top scorer was Garry Southern (3 wins) which was a great effort alongside Chris Forrester.
To complete the whitewash, Cumbria Ladies were beaten 31-13 so not the county’s best day, but it was full of effort and smiles in the sunshine.
Player of the Match was Linda Wade (3/4) while there were strong showings from Debbie Halliwell, Sally Walker, Rebecca Jackson and Alison Walker.
Next stop for the Cumbria sides will be Manchester in August.
